The Dark side of Desire (a working title) is unpublished and is the first in my series of Rick Marino murder mysteries.
When it’s published, something similar to the following blurb will be printed on the book’s dust jacket.
The crushed body of a giant, white rabbit lies next to the bruised and bloody remains of Susan Eckland, her eyes open wide, frozen in terror. Baltimore County Detective Rick Marino quickly learns how and why the rabbit died. Solving Susan’s murder is a tougher nut. Susan was a member of what seems to be a close-knit team leading the fight to eradicate a major human disease. And she had no obvious enemies.
It is only when Rick follows Susan’s path of duplicity from Selma, AL, to Madison WI, to Towson, MD that he finds people with resentment and anger. Susan did indeed have enemies, and one of them may have resorted to murder.
As bodies accumulate, Rick narrows his suspect list. Unfortunately, he has no solid evidence. Even worse, the murderer is now gunning for him. Rick is seriously injured in one attack and, if he’s not careful, he’ll be the killer’s next victim.
