The crushed body of a giant white rabbit lies next to the bloody remains of Susan Eckland, her eyes open wide, frozen in terror. Baltimore County Detective Rick Marino quickly learns how and why the rabbit died; solving Susan’s murder is a tougher nut.

Susan was a member of what seems to be a close-knit team leading the fight to eradicate a horrible disease. And she had no obvious enemies.

It is only when Rick discovers Susan’s path of duplicity from Selma, AL, to Madison, WI, to Towson, MD that he finds people with resentment and anger. Susan did indeed have enemies, and one of them may have resorted to murder.

As bodies accumulate, and Rick narrows his suspect, he needs to take care; the killer has targeted him to be the nest victim.
